“It was all worth it.”

A young woman I’ve been helping this year asked me the other day, “Ms. Jones, If your life were to end right now, in this moment, and you were taken up to Jesus immediately to see Him face-to-face, what would be the first question you ask Him?” She had asked the question so earnestly, IContinueContinue reading ““It was all worth it.””

In Loving Memory of My Brother, Antoine Jones

It’s very hard to believe it’s been five years since my brother passed away. Life is just so fleeting… so elusive – especially when you don’t attend to it. It’s interesting to me that I was just summarizing the last five years of my life in terms of my spiritual growth – learning to obey,ContinueContinue reading “In Loving Memory of My Brother, Antoine Jones”

Sermon: THE LIFE OF FAITH

We serve a God who not only speaks to us, but desires intimate conversation with us.

The Life of Faith: Sermon by Pastor William Carol

But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.  ~ John 20:31, NLT

Facing down bullies

Bullies are cowards at heart. They are masters of hiding their hurts, pains, and insecurities from others while projecting the same onto others. They prey on the fears of people they PERCEIVE to be weaker than them. My solution? Change the bully’s perception. Stand up to him/her. Speak up. Fight back. When you hold your ground, they will back down.

Think on these things…

Why was she exposing me to something she didn’t want me to believe in and be deceived by? At the same time she’s sharing with me the evil master-plans of spiritually compromised celebrities, she was not interested in hearing my rebuke that the gospel – the good news Jesus preached – was the only thing she needed to preach to others. The Word of God is the only word she needed to study for understanding. Why? Because when people have the Word of God in them, His Word shines a light on all the darkness within them.

Do not despise small beginnings.

What I learned from my restaurant years is that a dirty restroom can ruin an otherwise perfect visit. What I’ve learned from my corporate years is that a hospitable spirit and gracious personality will open more doors than any degree will.

We can understand God’s plans for us better when we look back and see what He has done for us, what He has brought us through, and what lessons He was insistent on us learning from repetitious situations in our lives.

He Is My Husband…

Have you thought about those relationships where God joins hearts and souls before minds are aligned and vows are spoken? When a man and woman try to catch up to what God has ordained as their union? When they struggle to grasp the totality of His promise? How difficult that must be for each to know the end result and to continue to sink in the minutia of process, continually getting lost in the labyrinth of selfish independent will (independent of God’s will).

But, doesn’t that describe the bulk of intimate relationships? We all connect to our significant other in some way, on some level, long before our thoughts and our will align and operate in unity. The life of a relationship is intended to flow towards total unity… into oneness.

One New Man

I’m not impressed by much in life, but I am impressed by this eager desire to know more about Jesus Christ’s Israel and to learn about the people God set apart for His purposes before time began. Being part of a contingent of people from all over the world who chose to journey to Israel to learn more about God’s purpose’s for Israel and our individ

Women in the Bible: RUTH

Ruth is the leading character in this book, which is named after her. The name Ruth means “mercy.” The story shows that God’s grace and mercy extend beyond Israel to include all peoples.

The religious truths found in this book relate more to practical life than to abstract theology. Loyalty, love, kindness, the value of persons, and the need to understand one another stand out. In the midst of the chaos then in the land, meaning could be found by returning to the first principles of simple truth. The book of Ruth tells us that no matter how bad things may be, goodness can exist, if we are willing to make the effort. [Follow the link to read the full article.]
