Morning Stretch and Praise Break
Physical activity has been absent from my life. This morning, I decided to change that beginning with a walk, and a stretch and praise break. Covid-19 isn’t to blame. Over the last seven months I’ve rarely left the house and when I do, it is in a car. When I lived in New York City,ContinueContinue reading “Morning Stretch and Praise Break”

Living without permission
Choosing to grant myself permission to live on my own terms. Deciding to embrace the fear of doing such even as I continue to forge ahead. For a spell now, I’ve been bombarded with examples on why living without permission is so important for our overall well-being.
No hero is coming to save me.
My whole life has been marked by stories of heroes with superhuman powers. I grew up with Christopher Reeves’ Superman and Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane. A line that has walked with me throughout my life was delievered by Lois after Superman caught her after a fall from a skyscraper, “You’ve got me, but who’s got you?” Every time I meditate on this line, the same thought comes to me: “You may have saved me but who’s gonna save you?”
Proving Ground
People who sin against you, violate your trust, hurt your heart, betray your relationship – whatever the trespass may be – are still precious to the Lord. God has not stopped loving the person you turned your back on because they do not live the way you want them to live. He is actually proving to that person that you had no understanding of love at all. You who were to be this person’s light and source of love took action to drive them further into darkness instead.
The insidiousness of distractions
Distractions provide the change we think we need, the future we thought we sought, the opportunities we thought we were lacking. Distractions are insidious in that they present as innocuous happenstances.
Find Your Place
Once you’ve achieved your dream, then the real work begins. We wonder what’s next. What will my life be now that I’ve done everything I envisioned? How will I continue to grow? What will I develop into? Is there a need to keep pushing forward?
Road trip: Riding shotgun
This year has been exhilarating in many ways. I’ve purposefully taken action to change my life into something that represents my heart, spirit, vision and purpose. It’s taking a lot of energy and focus, so much so, I keep thinking I’m failing. However, when I look around after detours, I see that I have not been pushed off-course. I’m exactly where I need to be.
