Being alive, and being fully alive means learning to live with a broken heart. Source: Don’t Break Your Heart So Often
Sermon: THE END IS THE BEGINNING
Sermon: THE END IS THE BEGINNING Those who want to save their lives will give up true life. But those who give up their lives for me and for the Good News will have true life. It is worthless to have the whole world if they lose their souls. They could never pay enough to buy back their souls. (Click link to listen.)
5 Minutes with Granddaddy / You Are an Incredible Testimony of Mercy
5 Minutes with Granddaddy / You Are an Incredible Testimony of Mercy I wish I had softer memories, kinder thoughts to dwell on as I'm confronted with the end of my granddaddy's life; but these are the memories that I had to acknowledge and overcome so they would not be all I had to look back on in the future.... I spent half a day getting to him and had only five minutes at his bedside… but it was all I needed to say what I had to say... what I was sent to say.

Film: A Dream for Christmas (1973)
A Dream for Christmas was made in 1973 but is set in 1950. It should be on a classic Christmas movie rotation every year, but it's not. It's a really good story about a family working together through change and challenges. It's a slice of life and a looking glass into an every day poor African-American experience pre-Civil Rights Movement. Very intriguing. Very warm. Very well done.

The 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that saw extensive service in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment was one of the first official African-American units in the United States during the Civil War. The 1st South Carolina Volunteers, recruited from freed slaves, was the first Union Army regiment organized with African-American soldiers in the Civil War, though many African-Americans had fought in the American Revolution and the War of 1812 on both sides.
Quote: I don’t respect them because it seems…
Schopenhauer, Kant, Nietzsche, naturally, I read all of those. I don't respect them; I am just trying to remember some of those whose theories I soaked up in those years. These three, it's said, laid the groundwork on which the Fascist and Nazi philosophy was built. I don't respect them because it seems to meContinue reading "Quote: I don’t respect them because it seems…"
