He Is My Husband…

Have you thought about those relationships where God joins hearts and souls before minds are aligned and vows are spoken? When a man and woman try to catch up to what God has ordained as their union? When they struggle to grasp the totality of His promise? How difficult that must be for each to know the end result and to continue to sink in the minutia of process, continually getting lost in the labyrinth of selfish independent will (independent of God’s will).

But, doesn’t that describe the bulk of intimate relationships? We all connect to our significant other in some way, on some level, long before our thoughts and our will align and operate in unity. The life of a relationship is intended to flow towards total unity… into oneness.

Pop Culture v. The Bible: OBAMA + MARRIAGE EQUALITY

I do believe homosexuality is a sin. God’s word says so. But I also believe that a homosexual person has the right to choose their life-path and live how they choose to live. From the beginning of time to this day, God has not stripped one person of the responsibility of choosing between life and death. Nor has He burdened anyone but Jesus Christ with another person’s sin. We all will stand accountable for our own choices in life; therefore we have the right to decide how we live our life. If a person chooses to spend their life with a person of the same gender, it is their God-given right to make that decision.

Governments should not make personal decisions for anyone. Church’s cannot make this decision for anyone.

Where my help truly comes from…

In the same way, trust comes by seeing someone do what they said they would do. With each action that follows a word/declaration/promise, trust increases. The third woman I spoke to last week complained bitterly about being unable to trust anyone, having no one to turn to for assistance with her children and being weary of inviting anyone into her home for fear of how they would take advantage of her situation. In exasperation, I told her, “At some point, you’re going to have to just decide to trust someone. Before you get to that point, you have to trust yourself. Do you trust yourself?”

Getting Over Yourself to Perform God’s Will for Your Life

Every time I become aware that there is a lapse in my total and complete surrender to God, I verbally reaffirm my desire for Him to use me according to His will. If you haven’t told Him lately how much you love Him, offer yourself fully to Him now and experience His warm embrace.

I Came for the Dream…

I’m going to speak to those who have been abused, mistreated or violated in any way because my old way of thinking came from the mindset of a victim – a captive. I was thinking and acting like someone in bondage who was desperately seeking freedom. All I could recognize was that I needed to reclaim what was taken from me. In my simplicity, I sought to redeem myself by casting what is sacred (my body) before swine (any man who is not my husband). However, the only way to keep the sacred holy is to set it apart. The sacred must remain clean and untouched by that which is unholy (anything not sanctioned by God). [follow the link to read the full article]

A Road I Must Travel Alone

I was changing. As we all do. Not only was God reworking me in a major way, I knew it was time for me go to another level. I was ready for a change, however I had no idea how monumentally drastic it would be. In 2005, when I decided to move to New York, I told my family and friends I would not be in contact for at least six months. I thought that was all the time I needed for my personal evolution. My knowledge then only scratched the surface, and it’s not much deeper now. However, after my visit to Riverside Church, I became more accepting of whatever changes were to come in my life.

New Day, New Year, New Life

Embrace your life with a fresh perspective. Greet each day with renewed hope. If you’re going through anything (difficulties, disappointments, pains and struggles) know that the God you believe in is faithful to get you to the other side. Everything we encounter in life strengthens and enables us
conquer future challenges.

Receive your blessings and keep walking!

!

The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Amy Winehouse: When did she live?

How you handle this life is a reflection of how you will handle the eternal life to come. If you are beaten, tormented, frightened, and lost, then your hope is not in Christ. You are not accepting the gift of salvation that God provided for you. You are allowing the enemy a victory he has no right to. There is no addiction that your will cannot overcome. It may take time, it may take a few or many setbacks, you may have to do it without family and friends who have long since given up, but you can overcome anything through Christ.
