I am not one to admit to having favorites within my family. There’s a great deal of jealously on both sides and I learned early on that what I did for one person, I had to do for others. Most especially for my two grandmothers, who had the wonderful foresight (or cunning) to be neighborsContinueContinue reading “What really matters in the end…”

An oxymoron in teaching about sin: “Love the sinner, hate the sin.”
A heart that loves God completely has no room for hate of any kind. Jesus instructs us to love everyone as we love ourselves. We are to love people (patiently treat them with gentleness, kindness, mercy and grace)– yes, even those consumed in their sin – and pray for them. That’s it.
Talk to the hand…
I love the messages people have been writing on hands and posting to the internet. So much so, I’ve started a collection. If you have some to add, please share in the comment section. Today’s lesson: Throwing up your hand(s) is not always a sign of giving up. Sometimes it’s an emphatic command to haltContinueContinue reading “Talk to the hand…”
Romans 8: Life in the Spirit…, God’s Everlasting Love
I needed this today. Be blessed, Shawnda Life in the Spirit There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.[a] 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you[b] free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you!”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got you!” Remember when Superman caught Lois Lane mid-air and said these words to her? Lois looked at him incredulously and said, “You’ve got me, but who’s got you?!?!” I never thought of it this way, but it’s just come to me. She wasn’t interested in his power. She wasn’t interested inContinueContinue reading ““Don’t worry, I’ve got you!””
About Love
Love is not to be taken lightly. Love is a responsibility. It’s strong, harsh, consuming and eternal. It’s unquenchable and indestructible. Love is a committment.

Poem: WHERE IS YOUR HOSPITALITY? by LaShawnda Jones
[A rebuke from the Lord] Where is your hospitality? What happened to your love? Your charity? Your kindness? Why are you growing weary? Did I not promise to keep you?Refresh you? Restore you?Are you not certain that you will overcome your current trials? Have you noticed how hardhearted you’ve become? Why did you allow thatContinueContinue reading “Poem: WHERE IS YOUR HOSPITALITY? by LaShawnda Jones”
Acknowledging my own guilt
Today, I was confronted by a sister in Christ who had a beef with me regarding my availability a couple of weekends ago. The first week of January, during Tuesday evening service, she invited herself to my home that coming Saturday. She wanted to hang out and watch movies. I shared with her that IContinueContinue reading “Acknowledging my own guilt”
Who will speak for this woman?
Men have long denied those they have claimed to love the most. Women have long made the mistake of thinking men are greater than they are. Adam threw Eve under the bus and, as far as we know, up to a few moments before he denied responsibility for his woman – his love and hisContinueContinue reading “Who will speak for this woman?”
