ACAD – Rejected: Isaiah 2
Day of the Lord will diminish the pride of man. "For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high; against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; against all the high mountains and against all the lofty hills; against every high tower, and against every fortified wall; against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft."

ACAD: Giving Thanks – Psalms 7
O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, if I have repaid my friend[b] with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

A Chapter a Day: Jeremiah 3
“Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the whore? And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it. She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore. {Click to read the chapter.}

A Chapter a Day: Joel 1
To you, O Lord, I call. For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field. Even the beasts of the field pant for you because the water brooks are dried up, and fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

Poem: WHERE IS YOUR HOSPITALITY? by LaShawnda Jones
[A rebuke from the Lord] Where is your hospitality? What happened to your love? Your charity? Your kindness? Why are you growing weary? Did I not promise to keep you? Refresh you? Restore you? Are you not certain that you will overcome your current trials? Have you noticed how hardhearted you’ve become? Why did you allow that to happen? Where is your tenderness? Your mercy? Your understanding and appreciation? Why have you given up on Me? Have I not promised to never forsake you? Have I not given you My strength? Have I not assured you of victory in every test? What have you to fear? When you call, do…

Acknowledging my own guilt
Today, I was confronted by a sister in Christ who had a beef with me regarding my availability a couple of weekends ago. The first week of January, during Tuesday evening service, she invited herself to my home that coming Saturday. She wanted to hang out and watch movies. I shared with her that I was scheduled to have an outpatient surgery the second week of January (the next week) and, if it was okay with her, it would be better if she came the Saturday following my surgery as I would be on homebound and happy for company. She agreed. Well a couple of days later, on that first…

Women in the Bible: WOMEN of FAITH
Women of Faith from Grace Communion International.com, http://www.gci.org/spiritual/womenfaith Yesterday, Now and Forever “God is not ashamed to be called their God.” This profound statement is found in Hebrews 11, the faith chapter of the Bible. Can you imagine your name being listed along with Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph and Moses in God’s list of the faithful? But, wait, before we go any further, let’s look at that list a little more closely. Faith is not only a masculine virtue, we see. Sarah and Rahab and the women who received their dead raised to life again are also listed. And those courageous nameless people who “were tortured, not accepting deliverance.” Let…

Excerpt: What does it mean to “repent”?
In our contemporary language we “apologize” or say we’re “sorry” for causing offense. However, neither being sorry (feeling regret, sorrow, grief or sadness) or offering an apology (expressing regret, remorse or sorrow for having insulted, failed, injured, or wronged another) is the same as repenting (to feel such sorrow for sin or fault as to be disposed to change one's life for the better). So what does it mean to "repent"? Follow the link to read the full article.

Excerpt: The Psalm 51 Example: Repent and Live
The first thing David uttered after hearing Nathan’s story was that such a man deserved to die. Spiritually, he had died because God was not with him in His sin. This is such a glaring example of what happens to interpersonal relationships when there’s a huge offense separating the two parties. Each party is able to see the other person’s transgression so clearly and barely have awareness of their own. Until the person who caused offense steps up to say, “I am the one at fault, what can I do to make amends” the relationship will remain fractured and the parties will remain separated. Repentance leads to life – when…
