I didn’t understand love because I had no understanding of God. As I have grown to know God, my understanding of love has increased. My increased understanding of love has led me to a better expectation of my husband’s character and behavior towards me. God has also developed my discernment, which greatly improves my ability to see the difference between what is truly Christ-like and what is only a mask of Christ-likeness.

Study: Courage to Build, Maintain and Restore Relationships
Our primary relationship is with God. We have to know and understand His word in order to properly interact with Him. Once we understand the importance of “right relationship” with God, we pursue it continually. More immediately in our physical world, we have a proper working model of a “good” relationship. Our human relationships are to mirror our primary spiritual relationship. I hope this compilation of God’s Word helps you with your relationship with Him and with people.
Speak Your Truth
What I’ve learned in these recent situations where I have been blatantly disrespected is that the antagonist was lying to me by speaking to me as if I belonged to him, not God. The enemy was speaking to me as if I were of this world and not a citizen of heaven. When my emotional response was discouragement, depression, sadness, anger, resentment, etc. then I was responding in the same spirit that was attacking me.
Wrong Thinking Leads to Wrong Living
So, if only doing the “right thing” and “saying the right thing” don’t add up to right living, what does?
