Song & Verse: Take Me to the King by Tamela Mann

Take Me To The King by Tamela Mann Take me to the King I don’t have much to bring My heart is torn in pieces It’s my offering Take me to the King Truth is I’m tired Options are few I’m trying to pray But where are you? I’m all churched out Hurt and abusedContinueContinue reading “Song & Verse: Take Me to the King by Tamela Mann”

Film: A Dream for Christmas (1973)

A Dream for Christmas was made in 1973 but is set in 1950. It should be on a classic Christmas movie rotation every year, but it’s not. It’s a really good story about a family working together through change and challenges. It’s a slice of life and a looking glass into an every day poor African-American experience pre-Civil Rights Movement. Very intriguing. Very warm. Very well done.

ACAD – Giving Thanks: 1 Timothy 2

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

ACAD – Giving Thanks: 2 Corinthians 9

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

A Chapter a Day: Matthew 26

“Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” {Click to read chapter.}

A Chapter a Day: 1 Peter 2

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Sacrifice, Submission, Surrender

“So, I had to ask myself this week – why is submission such a dirty word to me?

I am okay with giving up material goods – sacrificing my last dollar, the clothes off my back or even sharing my home. Sacrifice? No big deal. Surrender? Well, I’ve learned to surrender my all to Jesus. I’ve learned to trust that God is in control of everything involving my life. So, surrender – I can do that. I am submitted to God – no doubt about that…. Being a yielded vessel for God sounds great, but being a yielded vessel for God’s people…well… that’s another story….

Imagine how amazing life would be if each of us could get over ourselves every day and serve our loved ones, our community and our neighbors selflessly. Imagine if we simply laid down our life to serve and to love. In such a world, no one would go hungry or thirsty for God’s grace and mercy.”
