“I want your will to be done, not mine.” His prayer reveals to us his terrible suffering. His agony was worse than death because he paid for all sin by being separated from God. The sinless Son of God took our sins upon himself to save us from suffering and separation.

ACAD – Rejected: Psalm 108
With God we will do valiantly. “Awake, my soul! I will awake the dawn. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.
ACAD – Rejected: Psalm 89
Cast down and rejected but not removed from God’s steadfast love and faithfulness – God’s promise to David’s line. “He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation!’ I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. Forever I will keep my steadfast love for him, and my covenant with him will stand firm. I will establish his line forever, and his throne as long as the heavens endure.”
Devotional: Love as He Loves
True joy transcends the rolling waves of circumstance. Joy comes from a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the vine, and God is the gardener who cares for the branches to make them fruitful. The branches are all those who claim to be followers of Christ. The fruitful branches are true believers who by their living union with Christ produce much fruit.
ACAD – Rejected: Numbers 14
The people of Israel despised the Lord, believed a bad report of the promised land and rejected it. “Then the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the Israelites. And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? And how long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them? I will strike them with pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.””

When a trip starts off with a quick hale of a taxi and a traffic free ride from East Harlem to JFK airport and a nearly unexisitent line at security check-in that allows time for a sit down breakfast before getting to the gate …. well this can only mean big things are going toContinueContinue reading “The Hat”
Sermon: Jesus Is Now – Jesus Is Unifier
by Glenn Barteau Notes: Sin does not define our value and our place with God. Grace is the thing that determines our value. I don’t want us to be a church that where it comes to temptation, we just get better at hiding. I want us to be a church that get better at overcomingContinueContinue reading “Sermon: Jesus Is Now – Jesus Is Unifier”
Prayer and a song
Waking up with a song in my heart, mind and spirit is one of the most encouraging and soothing things I’ve experienced in my faith walk. Last night I attended our weekly prayer service. I took a long way – a bike ride along the Hudson River Greenway with a pause on a park benchContinueContinue reading “Prayer and a song”
