There’s been an unconscious mantra making rounds in my head for the last few months. Don’t lead with your pain. Simple enough as thoughts go. A complex algorithm as far as implementation goes. No matter where I begin my life story, death has a starring role… or at least a pivotal one. I’ve always thoughtContinueContinue reading “Don’t lead with your pain.”

Cheap Words
Well, they’re native, so…. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had half a dozen or so conversations where some version of the phrase above was used to “explain” or set the table for an explanation of some undesirable situation or turn of events. Often, the conversations have been with Christians. Always, the comment was presented […]ContinueContinue reading “Cheap Words”
Cupcake vs. Man Conundrum
Office small talk gone wrong. There were left-over birthday cupcakes in the office. I walked over grab a couple and shared with ladies on my return to my desk that there were some goodies around the corner. One co-worker vehemently protested the cupcakes. She went on and on about how she couldn’t possibly eat aContinueContinue reading “Cupcake vs. Man Conundrum”

5 Minutes with Granddaddy / You Are an Incredible Testimony of Mercy
5 Minutes with Granddaddy / You Are an Incredible Testimony of Mercy
I wish I had softer memories, kinder thoughts to dwell on as I’m confronted with the end of my granddaddy’s life; but these are the memories that I had to acknowledge and overcome so they would not be all I had to look back on in the future…. I spent half a day getting to him and had only five minutes at his bedside… but it was all I needed to say what I had to say… what I was sent to say.
ACAD: Psalm 35
ACAD: Psalm 35
Lord, battle with those who battle with me. Fight against those who fight against me. Pick up the shield and armor. Rise up and help me. Lift up your spears, both large and small, against those who chase me. Tell me, “I will save you.”
