Watch “Men sharing grace and gentle energy” on YouTube

NOTE: If you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel, please head over and subscribe! I usually post my full videos there before I get to cutting them up or writing about them for the blog. With 26 more subscribers, I can name my channel so it will be easier to find.

Over the last weeks, I’ve been feeling a shift in energy. Nothing has changed with me, so I don’t think I’m initiating the shift. Since I’m sharing encounters about men who for the most part don’t know each other, I think the shift is on the larger scale of planetary alignment or vortex vibrations through the universe. (😇 ha ha ha)

I’ve been posting clips of this video on Instagram (@harvestphoto1). The whole enchilada is a chuckle-fest of recent encounters with men that have left me laughing and feeling cared for. This is a far cry from the norm over the last few years that usually left me feeling violated, infuriated and disregarded. It’s an appreciation of being able to share moments of gentleness and grace with folks who prefer being gruffly obtuse.

Survive to tell your story.

Are you food for the predators? Or the one that got away? In this story, the man shares how he insured his family understood what “every man, woman and child for themselves” really means!

Having honest conversations with people with nothing to hide is refreshing. Be true to yourself. Your perspective and personality will leave an impact.

Leo Season!

As tired and haggard as I think I look sometimes, it’s nice to know it doesn’t completely show. Why would someone call me, “Liar in July”? Happy August, folks! Or as I like to say, Happy Birthday Month to ME! 😊

This is my girl!

If stated intentions confirmed courtship, I would be booed up with half the block at this point. One of my neighbors introduced me as his “girl” at a block party this weekend. His bold disregard for reality made me laugh. Where was all this energy in high school?

“I love you as a Woman of God and as a Friend”

Say it plain. Keep it simple. This text from a friend of thirty years, is still warming my heart!

Just wanted to say I love you so much …as a woman of God and as a friend. I also want to share how much I appreciate you for who you are and our connection as well. You are an amazing person and I’m honored to have you as part of my life’s experience. Many many blessings to you and talk soon. 👍🏽🤗🙏🏽✊🏽

All Is Meaningless (ACAD: Ecclesiastes 9)

All this I laid to heart, examining it all, how the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of God; whether it is love or hate one does not know. Everything that confronts them is vanity, since the same fate comes to all, to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to those who sacrifice and those who do not sacrifice. As are the good, so are the sinners; those who swear are like those who shun an oath. This is an evil in all that happens under the sun, that the same fate comes to everyone. Moreover, the hearts of all are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead. But whoever is joined with all the living has hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion. The living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no more reward, and even the memory of them is lost. Their love and their hate and their envy have already perished; never again will they have any share in all that happens under the sun.

Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has long ago approved what you do. Let your garments always be white; do not let oil be lacking on your head. Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that are given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to the skillful; but time and chance happen to them all. For no one can anticipate the time of disaster. Like fish taken in a cruel net, and like birds caught in a snare, so mortals are snared at a time of calamity, when it suddenly falls upon them.

I have also seen this example of wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me. There was a little city with few people in it. A great king came against it and besieged it, building great siegeworks against it. Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man. So I said, “Wisdom is better than might; yet the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heeded.”

The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouting of a ruler among fools.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one bungler destroys much good.

Stop and smell the flowers…

This is the beauty that stopped me in my tracks this morning! You may have thought I exaggerated yesterday when I mentioned that tulips stop me in my tracks each spring. Well, today there was a witness. 🙂

These beautiful blooms were in large planters outside my office building this morning. A colleague across the way saw me stop mid-stride and called out in alarm, “What’s the matter? Are you ok?” By the time I was able to drag my eyes away from the flowers and locate her, she was practically at my side. All I could say was, “The tulips are blooming!” {Visual: me w/dazed and simplistic smile}

She laughed. “You stopped to look at flowers?” {There may have been a good amount of NYC condescension there….}

With big besotted smile, I replied, “Yes, I did! You should pause and take them in too!”

She looked down at the tulips with a bemused grin. “They already look like they’re dying.”

Ah! Amazing the different perspectives we view the world from. True, the leaves were not in good shape – many were brown and dry, but seriously, how can anyone fault the color and the freshness of the bloom? I pointed that out to her and she asked if I was going to smell them too even as I leaned down to do just that. Another shocked laugh from her, but she seemed to relax quickly. She even stayed and chatted with me as I framed and took the photos above. I insisted she smell the flowers too! Her scoffing turned into a moment of amazement. 😉

Who would’ve thought I could add “Floral Ambassador” to my list of life roles?  🙂

Today’s lesson: If you’re scoffing at beauty, you certainly can’t be enjoying it! True beauty is not the absence of flaws. True beauty is found in the presence of true appreciation. Take the time to enjoy your surroundings.
