Pop Culture v. The Bible: OBAMA + MARRIAGE EQUALITY
I do believe homosexuality is a sin. God’s word says so. But I also believe that a homosexual person has the right to choose their life-path and live how they choose to live. From the beginning of time to this day, God has not stripped one person of the responsibility of choosing between life and death. Nor has He burdened anyone but Jesus Christ with another person’s sin. We all will stand accountable for our own choices in life; therefore we have the right to decide how we live our life. If a person chooses to spend their life with a person of the same gender, it is their God-given right to make that decision.
Governments should not make personal decisions for anyone. Church’s cannot make this decision for anyone.
Face-to-Face: Sharing God’s Glory With One Another
Relationships are destroyed from lack of knowledge as well. People don’t take the time or make the effort to get to know each other anymore. They seek shallow intimacies and call everyone friend. What one person knows, all people know – yet no one truly knows anyone and everyone feels the need to hide their true selves. This cycle is easy to maintain with technology, but the strain of maintaining the mask cannot be kept up indefinitely in face-to-face interactions.
Song & Verse: One and Only by Adele
From the first time I heard her song, One and Only, I envisioned Jesus serenading me – serenading us all, actually: Come on, let Me be your one and only. I promise I’m worthy to hold in your heart. I know it ain’t easy giving up your heart… but you’ll get all of Me in return – so come on and give me a chance….
Song & Verse: Whitney Houston & The Greatest Love of All
Love evolves. Love stretches us. It grows us. It teaches us. Love is more than an emotion and a feeling – it’s a way of life. Where would I be today without love? Without learning that love lives in me? Without learning that I can offer love as a gift? Without learning that I can accept love as a peace offering to heal a relationship? Where would any of us be without love?
The life of Jesus is by far the greatest example of the process of love and its evolutionary results. Jesus was given to the world first as a seed in a young woman’s womb. He was nurtured as a child and educated as a disciple of the One True God, who made Him a leader to the masses. In the process of His physical death, Jesus provided the opportunity for eternal life for every human being. Jesus came for a purpose. He died for a purpose. He rose for a purpose. Jesus was given for a purpose.
For Love.
Who do you want to be like?
Yes, these thoughts were swirling around disjointedly in my head while I was trying on dresses and listening to my shopping buddy squeal in delight at her royal finds. And yes, I do admit to an initial twinge of feminine jealousy. I want to look like a royal too. I want my majestic and regal bearing to show through whatever I wear. And I wasn’t seeing that in the selections I tried on… until the very last dress. The most plain and unadorned dress. It was colorless and very, very simple compared to the other nine indulgent, scrumptiously succulent creations I had dragged into the dressing room. Yes, the part of me that is all worldly woman wanted grandeur. But with all my heart, I thank God for simplicity.
18 Years Celibate: An Anniversary I Didn’t Plan On…
Being celibate has made me more aware of the “little” sins – the small offenses that can pollute a relationship. I am generally very quick to accept correction (or correct myself) and offer my apologies and reparations. I’ve grown to love honesty: the art of naked conversation. When you’re not trying to impress people with your sexual prowess, you feel incredibly free to speak your mind about who you are and where you are in life. Patience has become a great virtue of mine – I used to pray for patience; it is now firmly scratched off my “I Need” list. Seriously, when you’ve waited over a decade for anything, it takes a while to get riled up about much of anything.Compromising my principles is not an option.
Sermon: WHEN JESUS WALKS AWAY
Sometimes Jesus will reveal His plan to us without revealing Himself. We can have some answers and some comfort and then Jesus might walk away. It is not enough for Jesus to walk and talk with us He wants us to need Him. He desires us to simply ask Him to come closer and reveal Himself to us. Should it ever be enough to come into the Kingdom of God without seeing the King’s face? If you invite Jesus in He will come in and reveal Himself to us.
Wrong Thinking Leads to Wrong Living
So, if only doing the “right thing” and “saying the right thing” don’t add up to right living, what does?
Right thinking leads to right living. It’s very important that you get your mind right. What state is your mind in?
