A Chapter a Day: Matthew 27

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. A Chapter a Day: Nehemiah 4

“What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore it for themselves?[b] Will they sacrifice? Will they finish up in a day?”

“Yes, what they are building — if a fox goes up on it he will break down their stone wall!” [Their enemies] heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and that the breaches were beginning to be closed, they were very angry. A Chapter a Day: Nehemiah 2

And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid. I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ graves, that I may rebuild it.” {Click to read full chapter.}

Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. {Click the link to read the full post.}
