My hopes for my marriage

Adam's wedding

I hope to join with a man who is secure in his humanity. A man who is content with who he is, yet intent on becoming all he is meant to be. A man who ignites a fire within me and responds to the light in my eyes, the revelations of my heart, the purity of my spirit and the Creator of my soul. I hope to marry a man who doesn’t seek to control me or be controlled by me. A husband who works toward nothing less than full partnership and equal responsibility in the health, welfare and building of one another, our marriage and our family. I want a man who wants nothing more than to be a servant of God and a lover of me and loved by me.

I hope to be a wife who is secure in her humanity. A woman who is content with who I am, yet intent on becoming all I am meant to be. A woman who ignites a fire within my husband and responds to the light in his eyes, the revelations of his heart, the purity of his spirit and the Creator of his soul. I hope to be a wife who doesn’t seek to control or be controlled by my husband. One who works toward nothing less than full partnership and equal responsibility in the health, welfare and building of one another, our marriage and our family. I desire to be a woman who wants nothing more than to be a servant of God and a lover of my husband who is deeply loved by him in return.

I hope we enter our union as individuals aware of our own and the others’ individuality, but with an understanding and appreciation for everything that will transform us into one unit. One hope, one love, one joy, one peace, one spirit.
