God promises to bring Israel back to Him and restore them as if they had never been rejected. “Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and with their children they shall live and return.”

Israel is judged guilty of two evils: forsaking God and making broken vessels for themselves to worship. ” What wrong did your ancestors find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthless things, and became worthless themselves?”
Devotional: Not My Will, But Yours
“I want your will to be done, not mine.” His prayer reveals to us his terrible suffering. His agony was worse than death because he paid for all sin by being separated from God. The sinless Son of God took our sins upon himself to save us from suffering and separation.

Cast down and rejected but not removed from God’s steadfast love and faithfulness – God’s promise to David’s line. “He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation!’ I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
