The 2017 Harlem Book Fair was Saturday, July 15 on 135th Street between Lenox and Seventh Avenues in Harlem, NYC. It was a bright sunny beautiful day.
Since I have no real sense of moderation, my wagon of goods was literally overflowing, as always. I tried to take a video of my set-up at the end of the fair but there’s no sound 😶. Earlier in the day, I had gotten called to the stage during the afternoon program to discuss my work and read a short piece. I wasn’t expecting that, but I had the presence of mind to take my phone and a couple of books with me. I tried to record the audio of my short presentation but again, no sound! 😳 Aside from these two instances, I was a phenomenal sidekick for myself. 😋 Or as I shared with other vendors and Instagram, I was a one woman tag team gettin’ stuff done.
It was a good day. My sales didn’t cover the vendor fee (they never do), but people really appreciated my work. That appreciation alone is enough to get me to tackle some unfinished projects.
