This work has turned out so beautifully, I'm a bit tongue-tied at the finished look. Long hours, a huge learning curve and a great deal of commitment. I AM WOMAN: Expressions of Black Womanhood in America is available for purchase in an ebook or softcover format on Juneteenth.

I’m back to work. Full time grind to bring my projects to fruition.

The first recorded inhabitants of the #Milwaukee area are the #Menominee, #Fox, #Mascouten, #Sauk, #Potawatomi, #Ojibwe (all #Algic/#Algonquian peoples) and #Ho-Chunk (#Winnebago) (a Siouan people) #NativeAmerican tribes. Many of these people had lived around Green Bay before migrating to the Milwaukee area.

#Milwaukee has functioned as a yo-yo of sorts in my life. A place I go out into the world from and return to nest for a time. I first arrived in the city in the summer of 1989 right before starting high school. It was my home-base for 16 years of trying to stabilize my life. Yet I was beyond eager to leave it behind to discover my **true** self in New York City.

I decided to return to home base, #Milwaukee, to regroup for the summer. So far, I’ve been resting and scouting. Beginning to write and edit a bit more. Have gone out to take pictures of the city - a lot of things are the same since i moved away in 2005, but there’s been some great changes and pleasant surprises. I’m certainly seeing the city with new eyes. Looking forward to enjoying what I can. 🏖

Selecting art 🎨: It was hard to pick just one piece that reflected not only what I see in the work but also what I see in myself. A wonderful trait of skilled artists is their willingness to explore a range of expression, emotion and experience. With @nnamdiart I was able to zero in on a piece representing effusive joy and a piece showing hopeless/hopeful 🤔 despair. Titled 🦋Joy 🦋and 🕊They Are Waiting 🕊
